Lamborghini Diablo VT 6.0 SE: Major Service at F&M Motorsport

A 2001 Lamborghini Diablo VT 6.0 SE recently came through our shop for a major service. With only 43 units built, this rare model was one of the last Diablos before the Murciélago took over. Finished in Marrone Eklipsis, a stunning metallic brown, this car is a head-turner from every angle.

What Makes the SE 6.0 Special?

The Diablo VT 6.0 SE refined the already impressive Diablo 6.0, incorporating numerous performance and aesthetic upgrades. It came with upgraded brakes featuring Lamborghini-branded calipers, shorter final drive gearing for quicker acceleration, and a unique titanium-weave carbon fiber finish that differs from the standard 6.0.

Inside, the SE received electric seats with premium leather, an exclusive upholstery pattern, and upgraded carpeting. Additional enhancements included HID headlights and fully functional HID fog lights, a titanium short gear shifter, a subtly refined valve-controlled exhaust system, and a slightly lowered suspension setup for improved handling. The gold magnesium valve covers, a redesigned rear grill deck with Lamborghini script, and a more advanced factory alarm system further set it apart. Lamborghini produced 20 units in Oro Elios (gold), 20 in Marrone Eklipsis (brown), and three right-hand drive models for the UK, making it one of the rarest Diablo variants.

Lamborghini's Factory Maintenance Schedule

To keep the Diablo running at peak performance, Lamborghini set a major service interval at every 30,000 kilometers (18,750 miles). This includes essential inspections and part replacements such as engine oil and filter changes, fuel and air filter replacements, spark plug replacements, and transmission fluid flushes. The factory also recommends cooling system inspections, brake fluid flushes, differential servicing, and valve clearance adjustments to ensure optimal reliability. More frequent maintenance, such as oil changes and brake system checks, should be performed at 7,500-mile intervals to keep the car in top shape.
